The AviClear® device uses a 1726-nm laser wavelength that is specifically and selectively absorbed by sebum — the oil produced by sebaceous glands. By targeting the glands directly, AviClear® suppresses sebum production at the source, reducing the conditions that allow acne to form.

Patients who have not achieved adequate results with topical treatments, oral antibiotics, or other acne therapies — or who are seeking an alternative to systemic medications — are often excellent candidates.

What does the treatment feel like?
AviClear® incorporates AviCool™ sapphire skin cooling to maintain comfort during treatment. Most patients describe a warming or snapping sensation. Each session takes approximately 30 minutes.
How many treatments are needed?
The standard AviClear® protocol is three treatment sessions spaced approximately one month apart. Clinical studies show continued improvement for months after completing the series.
Is there downtime?
Most patients experience minimal downtime. Some patients notice a temporary increase in breakouts ("purging") in the weeks following treatment — this is a normal part of the process and typically resolves. Your physician will discuss what to expect at your consultation.
